One For The Kitchen, One For The Soul
So what does that mean ?
It’s an act of collaborating two things just to maintain the balance, “One for the kitchen” is the gig that you run to cover you expenses but this is something you don’t want to do all your life and “One for the soul” is the gig that you would love to do but unfortunately that’s not mature enough to generate revenue. So what you do is keep money flowing in and put that money where you soul is till it starts reaping the fruits of labour.
Let’s say you are a hot shot designer at a company X, you are making a lot of money but your end goal is have your own design based company but you can’t just quit and start off. James Altucher mentions in his post How To Quit Your Job the Right Way “I stayed at my full-time job for 18 months until I left.”. That’s the mark of true businessman. You wait for the right time.
Everyone has got their dreams and objectives to complete in life but you to tackle the immediate problems before you can knock out the final goal but until that keep hustling.
So next time you get into a conversation with a random stranger don’t ask “What do you do ?” rather ask “What are your dreams ?” that should make the conversation more interesting.
